Centre abolishes ‘No-Detention Policy’ for classes V and VIII in centrally funded schools

The Central Government has abolished the ‘no-detention policy’ for students in classes V and VIII in schools under its jurisdiction and 50% of the states and UTs. Students who fail their year-end exams can reappear within two months and will receive targeted support. This change aims to address learning gaps and ensure holistic development.
